So there’s this shop on the ground floor of the building adjacent to the one I work in. The location is perfect – ground floor of the one of the busiest commercial buildings in Cyber City. Although I don’t know how long it’s been in existence, I doubt it is going to be around for much longer. Every time I cross it, it’s empty. And I really have my doubts that one day I’ll see a person, other than the cashier, in there.
The picture is a giveaway, so no surprises there. The store sells HP laptops and BlackBerry phones. If you’ve haven’t been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you’d know that the PC industry is dying a slow and inevitable death. Mobile phones, not so much. But BlackBerry, do you really want me to start again? Last I checked we weren’t living in 2007!
So it doesn’t take a genius to not get into these lines of business. But every time I see this store, I can’t help but imagine what was going through the mind of the person who decided to deal in not one, but two dying brands. Then I wonder how long before they burn through their cash and let out an evil chuckle in my head.
I really hope the next store that opens in it’s place offers something people want. If you can think of something, I know of a great spot that will be vacating soon 😉
